Arts at the Stone Church in collaboration with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution will be hosting a science and art exploration of the beauty and challenges of the SouthCoast Saturday, Oct. 19 to Sunday, Oct. 26.
The First Congregational Church of Wareham located at 11 Gibbs Avenue willhouse the two-component science fair.
This free series begins with an opening reception at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday Oct. 19 with a closing reception Friday Oct. 26 at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Gallery hours for the exhibition will be Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The first component is inspired by Renaissance celebrations of Michelangelo. The science fair will have experiential activities for adults and kids alike while experts guide visitors.
The program features interactive exhibits and works from the institution and local artists.
The second component is an art show featuring institute scientists who integrate their scientific and artistic creativity. The exhibition will showcase artwork displayed alongside scientific research.
Artistic will pieces reflect both the natural beauty and the challenges facing local shorelines, while scientific explorations focus on practical approaches to environmental protection.
Local students and community members are encouraged to contribute their own artwork and ideas.
