Spinney stays shut for the summer

Mar 31, 2024

The Wareham Free Library currently has no plans to open its Spinney Memorial Branch this summer, according to library director Patrick Marshall.

The Spinney Memorial Library is the Wareham Free Library’s Onset location.

Marshall said with the library’s current staff, opening up the Spinney branch would take away from the services that could be offered at the main branch.

However, the library is looking at what special programming could be run out of Spinney, he added.

One such event is a walking book tour through Onset Village, hosted by the South Coast Almanac, discussing “The Stolen Coast,” a heist novel involving diamonds set in a coastal Massachusetts town, written by Dwyer Murphy. The walk will take place on May 11, from 2 to 4 p.m.; see the events calendar on the library’s website for more information.
