Leap Day is this Saturday, February 29th. This day occurs because it takes Earth approximately 365.25 days to make one orbit around the sun. To account for the extra time, we add a whole day every four years to our calendar. There are some exceptions to this rule, but the day is added to ensure that our calendar aligns with the solar year.

Looking for something to do on your extra day this year? Check out one of the Wareham Land Trust’s trails for a wonderful winter walk. http://warehamlandtrust.org/properties/
