This Saturday, June 20th is the Summer Solstice, marking the astronomical start of summer. This day represents the longest day of the year when the sun is at its most northernmost and highest point in the sky. Summer signifies the emergence of damselflies and dragonflies, and fireflies become more active and prominent. To get involved in citizen science while enjoying the beauty of fireflies, check out Firefly Watch. Your participation in this program will help researchers gain a better understanding of their populations, geographic distribution, and how their populations are affected by environmental factors. The Wareham Land Trust is dedicated to conserving Wareham’s open spaces and natural resources. The organization also values the health of its members and the community. Please remember that during this time of concern about the spread of COVID-19, it is critical to limit your contact with others and practice good hygiene. As a reminder, our trails remain open for your use, and we encourage you to get outside and into nature as much as possible in the coming weeks. Visit our website for more information.
