Nov 30, 2022

Fall River, MA - Saint Anne’s Hospital has earned an "A" rating for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety from the Leapfrog Group’s the Fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades.

The designation recognizes Saint Anne’s steadfast commitment to patient safety, even under the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is Saint Anne’s 22nd consecutive “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group. Saint Anne's is one of just 22 hospitals in the US to maintain straight A's since Leapfrog first began awarding this distinction.

“Every member of the Saint Anne’s Hospital family makes patient safety a top priority day in and day out,” said Michael Bushell, president of Saint Anne’s Hospital. “From holding safety meetings seven days a week, to recognizing staff as ‘safety heroes’ when their attention to detail prevents patient harm, safety is ingrained in our culture. I thank our entire staff for making Saint Anne’s part of an elite few hospitals in the nation to maintain straight A’s in safety for more than a decade.”

Saint Anne’s was one of six Steward hospitals in Massachusetts recognized with the top mark, including Holy Family Hospital-Haverhill, Holy Family Hospital-Methuen, Morton Hospital in Taunton, Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, and Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
