“The Pine Tree Wars” will be discussed during an upcoming program by the Wareham Historical Society on Oct. 15.

Malcolm Phinney, captain of the Wareham Minutemen and Militia, will speak about the wars. The early 18th century disagreements between the king of England and the colonists concerned the ownership of New England’s white pine trees and pushed the country to war. Phinney will discuss the events and politics of that time in history and talk about how it influenced the country’s struggle for independence.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the Methodist Meeting House, located at 495 Main St. Refreshments will be served after the program. Admission is free to members, non-members pay $2. For more information, call 508-295-8578.
