Farmer’s market returns to Rosebrook

Jul 15, 2021

The Farmer’s Market at 35 Rosebrook is back, and open each Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m.

Vendors braved the heat and humidity on July 15 with wares ranging from fresh veggies to homemade garden aprons, soaps and key chains.

Colleen Keegan of “Home in History” was spinning blue and purple wool into yarn at her booth, displaying all kinds of homemade goods: aprons, knitwear, flannel shirts, buttons and dried herbs, among other items.

Her work is grounded in history. On Thursday, she had three styles of mittens for sale: A design of her own, her grandmother’s pattern, and a design modeled off a pair of mittens from the 1500s that is housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Steven’s Farm Stand, based in Rochester, had a variety of fresh produce grown without pesticides for sale: multicolored carrots cozied up to onions and zucchini in a cornucopia.

Debbie Joyce is a soapmaker who had her loofah soaps displayed alongside small starfish soaps and produce from E.L. Silvia Farms in Dighton.

The market also featured live music.
