May 20, 2022

Gladys “Dolly” Kilbreth, 67, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2022. A longtime Wareham resident, she was born on February 10, 1955 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Atwood) McDonald. On May 17, 1975, Dolly married Kim D. Kilbreth. Dolly and Kim would have been married 47 years this year, she passed just 6 days before their anniversary.

Dolly was a beautiful soul with a great love of life, family and her heritage. She taught those around her all the skills and lessons she had learned in her life so they can be passed on for generations. Dolly was very proud of her Mi’kmaq heritage, she attended pow-wows whenever she could. She wove beautiful baskets and even taught her loving husband Kim how to work the reed. She loved to travel and in recent years was able to pack up the camper in the winter and enjoy the warmer weather.

Dolly’s greatest joy was her family and spending time with them whenever she could. She leaves behind her adoring husband Kim D. Kilbreth Sr; her three children, William and his wife Valerie McDonald of Coaticook, Canada, Kim Kilbreth Jr. and his partner Debbie Goodsell of Stanstead, Canada, and Rachael and husband Christopher Gray of Winslow, ME; her grandchildren, Cory McDonald, Bryan Daviage, Jazmine McDonald, David McDonald, Dakota Smith and Kaitlyn Gray; her siblings, Patrick and wife Patricia McDonald, Kevin and wife Cheryl McDonald, and Paula and husband Patrick Carroll all of Massachusetts; sister-in-laws Beverly McDonald of Canada and Carol McDonald of Massachusetts; great grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews. Dolly also leaves behind her “adopted” daughters Tammy Simmons, Angela Stephenson and Jennifer McAlister, her very best friend Phyllis Jamieson, known at Auntie Fi, and her cat Sassy.

Dolly was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Dennis, “Buster” McDonald, Ralph “Sandy” McDonald, Walter “Junbug” and his wife Joyce McDonald, and Michael McDonald; her nephew Alan McDonald; and her beloved grandson Ryan Cogswell.

This beauty of our world is the love we are given and share with others, Dolly will always be a legacy to many, she loved all with an unconditional love that will last lifetimes. Her spirit will forever be in our hearts and in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Dolly’s life and beautiful spirit will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 12-2 PM at Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street Waterville Maine. Please visit www.VeilleuxFuneralHome.com to share your condolences and memories.
