James “Bucky” Rogers, 74

Sep 29, 2020

James “Bucky” Rogers, 74, of Wareham, MA, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2020. He was the son of the late James “Birda” and Mary (Carey) Rogers of Somerville.

Bucky was born on July 29, 1946, in Cambridge and raised in the Glen Park region of Somerville. He was a Vietnam era veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Bucky and Barbara raised their three sons, all United States Servicemen, in Tewksbury. For many years, he was a member of Teamsters Local 25 in Boston, working as a truck driver.

Bucky moved to Onset in 1990 where he served as a bartender for Stephen’s Lounge and Stevie B’s Onset Sports Resort. He lived his “golden years” working for over 10 years for Community Connections as a bus driver for individuals with special needs. Bucky genuinely loved serving his “Rogers’ Rangers” each day.

He is lovingly survived by his sons, Richard Rogers and his wife Pamela of Bellevue, WA, and their three children Tanner, Brynn and Lila, James R. Rogers Jr. of Wareham and Sean Rogers of Tewksbury and his two children Sam and James; sisters Maryann “DeeDee” Barnard and Patricia Rogers both of Wareham, Judy McBrine and her husband Richard of Onset and brother Timothy Rogers and his wife Lynne Courtney of Quincy. He is also survived by the mother of his sons, Barbara (Miele) Muolo of Wilmington, a nephew, and several nieces.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 255 Cranberry Highway, Wareham.

Funeral services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Birda Cup Foundation P.O. Box 549 Onset, MA 02558. All proceeds will be donated to United States Veterans organizations in memory of James “Bucky” Rogers.
