Opinion: Rezoning would compromise Red Brook’s water quality

Apr 9, 2021

To the Editor:

I am the current treasurer of Cape Cod Trout Unlimited. I also have served as President of the Osterville Anglers Club and the Cape Cod Flyrodders. I am also a member of the South Shore Flycasters. I am in constant contact with literally hundreds of local fishermen and fisherwomen, conservation minded individuals, local business owners and many town officials.

I strongly oppose a zoning change that would allow a compromise to the water quality of Red Brook. There have been decades of progress and literally thousands of volunteer hours to make this a unique and special watershed and it is unconceivable that a board would allow an out of town for profit company to change the course of history with a simple vote.

I know there has been very strong opposition to this zoning change and for VERY good reason. Please consider the long term implications and do NOT vote to approve the proposed zoning change.
