Peter “Pete” M. DiRienzo, 57

Jul 7, 2020

Peter “Pete” M. DiRienzo, 57, of Wareham, died February 28, 2020 at home. He was the husband of the late Christina A. (Butland) DiRienzo and the son of the late Charles J. and Joan M. (Jolley) DiRienzo.

He was born in Boston and lived in Canton, and then Wareham for most of his life. Pete was a humble and genuine man who always put others’ needs before himself.

He spent most of his time working and driving his tractor trailer but on the weekends you could find him up at the New England Dragway behind the wheel of his “Misfit” Studebaker coupe. He also enjoyed collecting cars, trucks and motorcycles and restoring them in his front yard with his sons, best friends, and a little bit of “Miller High Life”.  When he wasn’t behind the wheel of a vehicle he was out at sea lobstering in his beloved boat the “Joan Marie”.

Survivors include 2 sons, Peter M. DiRienzo, Jr. of Wareham and Beau DiRienzo and his wife Alexandra of East Sandwich; a brother, Charles “Chuck” DiRienzo and his wife Christine of Wareham; 3 grandchildren, Christina, Jace, and Carter DiRienzo; a nephew, Kenny DiRienzo of Stoughton; a niece, Lisa Greenman of Worcester; and many lifelong friends.

Visiting hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.  In honor of Pete, please come dressed in your favorite flannel.
