Tricks and treats: Halloween happenings around Wareham

Halloween is Wednesday, Oct. 31 and there’s plenty to do in Wareham in the coming days. Trick-or-treating on Main Street, splashing around in the Gleason Family YMCA’s pool with pumpkins and a “trunk-or-treat” are some of the offerings. For more events, see below. 

Friday, Oct. 26

Main Street trick-or-treating

Businesses on Main Street will hand out candy on Friday, Oct. 26, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for trick-or-treating The Wareham Village Association is coordinating the event and recommends trick-or-treaters start at Eastern Bank before making a full loop of participating businesses.

YMCA Spooktacular

The Gleason Family YMCA, located at 33 Charge Pond Road, will host its annual Spooktacular Halloween party on Oct. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will feature games and trick-or-treating. Admission is free. 

Halloween-themed dinner

The Wesley United Methodist Church will host a Halloween-themed lasagna dinner on Oct. 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner includes lasagna, salad, bread, homemade dessert and drink. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. RSVP by texting or calling 508-264-1988 to reserve a spot. Tickets are also available at the door. The Wesley United Methodist Church is located at 462 Main St.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Pumpkin Splash

The Gleason Family YMCA, located at 33 Charge Pond Road, will hold its annual Pumpkin Splash on Oct. 27 from noon to 2:30 p.m. Pumpkins will be floating in the Y’s pool for kids to swim with from noon to 12:45 p.m. Parents must accompany children ages 0 to 7 in the water. Parents may also be required to accompany children who can’t swim in the water to help them pick out a pumpkin during the event. All pool rules apply during the aquatic portion of this event. After, an arts and crafts session will be held. Cost is $5.

Wednesday, Oct. 31

Trunk-or-treat

The Onset Foursquare Church will host the 8th annual Trunk ’n’ Treat on Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event, where kids can trick-or-treat from car to car, will be held at Lopes Field, across from 301 Onset Ave. Vehicles must arrive by 4 p.m. Candy will be distributed from 5 to 8 p.m. Candy will be provided for each vehicle.
