Victor “Vickie” Maksy, 80

Victor “Vickie” Maksy, 80, of West Wareham passed away after a brief illness at Tobey Hospital on April 25, 2019.  He was the son of the late Victor Maksy, Sr. and Taimi J. (Niemi) Maksy.

He was born in New Bedford on September 11, 1938 and lived in West Wareham for most of his life.  He was a graduate of Wareham High School Class of 1957 and served in the United States Coast Guard.  He was a faithful member of the Evangelical Zion Church in West Wareham.

Mr. Maksy worked for various cranberry growers including Decas Cranberry Company.

He was an avid outdoorsman and had a wonderful knack of fixing things.  He will forever be remembered throughout his “Finntown” community as a caring neighbor who went out of his way to help anyone in need.  Vickie will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Mr. Maksy is survived by his cousins, Robert Niemi and his wife, Judy of Rochester, Cathy Doris of Westport, and Betty Galavotti and her husband Ed of Cheyenne, Wyoming, as well as several extended cousins.

His memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte. 28), Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.For directions and online guestbook, visit: www.ccgfuneralhome.com.
