BETH ISRAEL DEACONESS HOSPITAL-PLYMOUTH IS THE ONLY HOSPITAL IN MASSACHUSETTS TO RECEIVE TOP HOSPITAL DESIGNATION THE LAST TWO YEARS
PLYMOUTH, MA – Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth is proud to announce that it is the only hospital in Massachusetts to receive Leapfrog Top Hospital the last two years. Additionally, the hospital received an A-rating for the third year in a row for outstanding patient safety and quality scores. Top Hospital designation is one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital can receive in the United States. The recognition showcases BID-Plymouth’s commitment to patient safety and quality.
"Being recognized as a Top Hospital the last two years and receiving a A-rating for the third year speaks to the hard work and dedication of our employees, nurses, and physicians to provide patients with the highest level of quality, safety, and outcomes,” says Kevin Coughlin, President & CEO.
Thousands of hospitals in the United States were surveyed by the Leapfrog Group and only 109 received Top Hospital designation. In Massachusetts, BID-Plymouth is one of only 10 hospitals to receive the designation.
“Our nurses, clinicians and care providers in all areas of the hospital provide exceptional patient care every day and we are honored to receive the Top Hospital designation for a second year in a row,” says Donna Doherty, RN, BSN, MM, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “For our patients, this means that they can be assured that their care is in great hands.”
The selection of Top Hospitals is based on the results of the 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are proud to recognize Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.
