Things to do: New year, new you

There’s always something to do in Wareham, and this week is no different. Greet the new year with some outdoors activities, or say farewell to the old with a round of golf at the Wareham Free Library.

Walk into the new year
Join the Wareham Land Trust for a walk around the Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary and get a head start on some New Year’s resolutions to be more active.
The walk will take place on Monday, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. It is approximately 1.8 miles, and is easy to moderate difficulty. Dress in layers for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes.

Take a shot
Join the Wareham Free Library as the entire library is turned into an 18-hole mini-golf course.
Play at the impromptu course will take place on Friday, Dec. 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Games are $5 per person and no registration is required. The event is sponsored by Wareham Free Library Foundation.
Sponsorships are $100 and sponsor can have their company logo or name placed on a sign at the hole or tee sponsored. Sponsors are also encouraged to decorate.

A refreshing start
Jump into 2024 at the Onset New Year’s Polar Plunge.
The Buzzard’s Bay Coalition’s Onset Bay Center and the Onset Bay Association will host this event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring a full set of warm, dry clothes to change into after the plunge, a bag for wet clothes and towel.
