Matthew T. Holmes, 29, of Wareham died Jan. 15 unexpectedly.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of Michele L. (Tuell) Glover of Plymouth, and Derek Holmes of Wareham. Matthew worked as a carpenter and a cook in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his children and fishing.

He is survived by his two daughters, Ava and Ella Holmes, and their mother Hillary Carey all of Wareham; his mother Michele L. Glover and his step-father, James Glover of Plymouth; his father, Derek Holmes of Wareham; his sister, Erica Prien and her husband Kyle of Marion; his brother, Michael Holmes and his wife Sara of Plymouth; his grandparents, Diana Tuell of Ocala, Florida, and John and Rita Glover of Plymouth; his step-grandmother, Kathy Geren of Eatontown, New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, the late Andrea Holmes.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the First Congregational Church, Gibbs Ave., Wareham. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Wareham.

Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham.
