Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce 4th annual breakfast meeting
The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce has announced its 4th Annual Breakfast Meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 26th, 8 AM at the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School, 220 Sandwich Rd. Bourne.
Featured guest speaker and recipient of the Business of the Year Award is Scott Zeien, Owner of Kingman Yacht Center, Cataumet. Nestled in Red Brook Harbor on the eastern shore of Buzzards Bay, Kingman Yacht Center is the largest marina/boatyard on Cape Cod, offering 235 slips, 130 moorings, transient services, complete maintenance, refit, repair and repower services, marine electronics sales and installation, fuel, a ships store, yacht brokerage, yacht club and on-site shopping and dining.
Kingman was the first marina in the Northeast to dispense biodiesel exclusively at its fuel dock, helping to reduce dependence upon non-renewable fuel sources. The boatyard was years ahead of regulations to treat and recycle pressure wash water to prevent toxic paints and metals from entering the water. Scott installed rain gardens through the property to minimize storm water pollution, setting an example for other waterfront properties throughout the area. Most recently, Kingman completed installation of the largest commercial solar power project on Cape Cod, projected to generate almost 25% of the marina’s electricity needs each year.
Scott is a Director on the Board of the Coalition for Buzzards Bay, and Vice President of the Cape Cod Marine Trades Association.
Ambassador of the Year Award will be also be presented at the breakfast, to Elaine J. Seguer of The South Coast Women’s Journal. Elaine has worked for the South Coast Women's Journal, an educational publication, since its inception six years ago. She is also a member of BNI (Business Networking International) located in Wareham, MA. The Women’s Journals are the official 2011 Southern MA and Rhode Island media sponsor for the American Heart Association and the "Go Red for Women" campaign.
The Chamber would like to thank Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, The South Coast Women’s Journal and the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School who are sponsors for the event.
Hot Breakfast will be served in the Canalside Dining Room, Advance Reservations Required, $15 per person. Please make reservations early – event has sold out the past 3 years.
