The South Coast Chamber Music Series (SCCMS) presents “Divine Fire”, a weekend of music featuring two Bohemians and a polymath! The prodigious works of African-American pianist, composer, and conductor Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson (b. 1932) span the worlds of jazz, dance, pop, film, television, and classical music. His string quartet “Calvary” is a prime example of this heady fusion. Violist Anna Griffis performs Morpheus by Rebecca Clarke, an English renegade whose independent life and works were far ahead of her time. Antonin Dvorak’s exhilarating Piano Quintet in A Major closes the concert with appropriate fanfare. 

On Saturday, April 30, the Chamber Music performance will take place in Marion at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church (124 Front Street). On Sunday, May 1, the venue is in South Dartmouth at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church (351 Elm Street). Both concerts begin at 4:00pm. This SCCMS weekend features NBSO musicians Ethan Wood, violin; EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks, violin; Anna Griffis, viola; Peter Zay, cello; as well as SCCMS Artistic Director Janice Weber, piano.

If you are holding a ticket for the January 29 concert, it will be valid for the June 4 concert in Marion.  If you are holding a ticket for the January 30 concert, it will be valid for the June 5 concert in Dartmouth.
