Two Baroque solos preface a staggering demonstration of trio power.
Bach’s violin Chaconne and the C major cello suite demonstrate the awesome power of four strings in the right hands. The program segues into two stunning force multipliers: Mendelssohn’s scintillating Trio in C Minor and Café Music by Paul Schoenfield, a work fusing ragtime, jazz, and klezmer into a literally unforgettable tour de force.
