On Saturday, April 30th, The Massachusetts Butterfly Club hosted a walk with 17 participants in Myles Standish State Forest.  It was great to see so many new faces!  Several butterfly species were observed and photographed by all.

While the highlights of early season butterflies are always the elfins and azures (of which we saw many), we were also treated to other early species such as the duskywings and the flashy eastern tailed-blue!   Almost all species were observed feeding on the bearberry and low bush blueberry which have just begun to flower.

We would love to have you join us on one of our field trips this summer.  To view a full list of our trips, please visit our field trip and July counts trips page here: Massachusetts Butterfly Club Field Trips

As with all outdoor activity, participants on our walks are encouraged to bring water, bug repellant and any appropriate sun protection that may be needed during a 2+ hour walk
