‘Nip Bottle Target’ combats litter with good humor

Apr 24, 2020

An anonymous Wareham resident is tackling the persistent problem of nip bottle litter by installing a “Nip Bottle Target” along the side of Main Street -- and the idea seems to be working.

The solution is simple: A large blue trash can, several feet from the roadside, is clearly labeled with a hand-painted sign.

The trash can had several dozen nips inside, and one a few feet away that seemed to be a missed shot (deposited in the barrel by Wareham Week).

For those looking for a place to dispose of nip bottles, the barrel is located on the stretch of Main Street between the Decas School and Papermill Road.
