3 seasonal liquor licenses approvals put on hold

Mar 22, 2017

Slightly irritated, Selectmen Chair Judith Whiteside chastised three businesses on Tuesday for failing to submit paperwork to renew seasonal liquor licenses.

“Paperwork is very important,” Whiteside began. “This license is not something that automatically gets renewed.”

Of the four businesses slated to get renewed licenses on Tuesday only one, Americana Cafe on Main Street, was approved. The other three – Quahog Republic, Point Independence Yacht Club and Stash’s Onset Beach – will be renewed once those businesses’ applications are in order, said Whiteside.

Of the four, Americana Cafe and Stash’s Onset Beach sought licenses allowing them to only sell beer and wine. The Independence Yacht Club and Quahog Republic seek licenses that would allow the sale of beer, wine and spirits.

Once the town approves the licenses, they are sent to the state’s Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission for review.
