94-unit development proposed at Bay Pointe Club
The Bay Point Club might soon be home to a new 94-unit housing development.
On April 13, the Planning Board will consider a mixed-use proposal to develop 35 of the 141.59 acres of the current lot.
A plan for the site, which would be off of the existing Bay Pointe Drive, was already submitted to the Planning Board.
According to the plan, the development would include 62 lots with 94 units, 60 single-family units, seven duplex buildings with 14 units, and five fourplex buildings with 20 units.
The Bay Club was purchased by Bay Pointe Club LLC in February of 2012 for $1.4 million by Stonestreet Hospitality, a division of Stonestreet Corporation, an East Providence, Rhode Island based company.
It was purchased from Digital Federal Credit Union, a bank which previously owned the property due to foreclosure.
Several phone calls to a Stonestreet and the Bay Point Club representatives went unreturned.
The plan also shows a proposal for approximately 3,123 linear feet of new roads and 2,277 linear feet of improved roads.
Three new roadways would be constructed off of the existing Bay Point Drive, which would be widened 22 feet, the town’s standard.
Improvements would also include new sidewalks for the area.
The document was presented by the Principe Company along with a golf course architect and a landscape architect.
It also stated that parts of some of the existing holes on the current 18-hole golf course would be altered or moved within the development to make room for some of the buildings.
If approved, the development would be constructed in phases, with homes on the existing Bay Point Drive to be constructed first.
