After graduating from Wareham High School in 1976, graduates went all across the country – to Virginia, Louisiana, California. Some stayed in Wareham.
But they came together at the Bay Pointe Country Club on Aug. 29 for their 50th class reunion.
Over 60 classmates and 10 teachers celebrated being together, some having not seen each other since they graduated.
Rick England, who helped organize the reunion, said there were some friends from high school that he didn’t recognize because it had been so long since he last saw them.
Vanessa Henderson, who was the 1976 class president, scoured the yearbook for everyone’s favorite song from the era. She made a seven-hour-long playlist with everyone’s favorite song, which classmates danced along to.
Frank Prealis sculpted a viking head out of ice, honoring the school’s mascot.
England said they had lost over 30 classmates since graduation. They honored those who died during the reunion.
Before this, the class’ last reunion was in 2001 in Hyannis.
“It’s been too long to go this far and not see everybody. So we’re going to try to do it again in five years,” England said.
