Academic accolades to two Wareham students

Jul 1, 2025

Two Wareham High School graduates were recently awarded with the Mary V. Rose scholarships in support of their collegiate journeys.

Each year, Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center, Inc. awards two $1,000 scholarships to Wareham High School graduates desiring to further their education.

Mary V. Rose was a long time Wareham resident and Historian interested in the community and helping anyone in need. She did so with a generous heart and a ready smile.

Donations to the Mary V. Rose Scholarship can be sent to OGCVCC, Inc. Box 1445 Onset, MA 02558. All donations are appreciated and go directly to the students. Donations are also accepted online by visiting their website at oakgrovecvcc.org

Ava Bregoli, an incoming student at Providence College, is one of the scholarship recipients, and, coming from a family of school teachers, she plans to become an elementary school teacher herself. Also,in her free time, Bregoli likes volunteering to help elementary students.

Another Mary V. Rose scholarship recipient, Payton Calvin, is planning to study Archeology at Bridgewater State University in the fall. Out of anyone in the world Calvin could choose as a special dinner guest, he would choose Mary Montrond, because he thinks she is a kind soul.
