Agreement with new Wareham school chief 'close'
Officials are "close" to completing an agreement with Kimberly Shaver-Hood, the School Committee's top choice for Wareham Public Schools' next superintendent, School Committee Chair Rhonda Veugen said Wednesday.
The School Committee has agreed to meet in a closed, executive session meeting on Wednesday, June 12, for the purpose of voting upon a contract with Shaver-Hood, who currently serves as superintendent of the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District.
The School Committee agreed after its May 29 decision to appoint Shaver-Hood that Veugen and School Committee member Geoff Swett should begin contract negotiations immediately, as current Superintendent Dr. Barry Rabinovitch retires as of July 31.
Veugen has said she hopes the new superintendent would be able to start immediately following Rabinovitch's July departure, though that would depend on Shaver-Hood's obligations to her current district.
