ALDI set to open in Wareham on Nov. 30
Discount grocery chain ALDI will open its new Wareham location at 2419 Cranberry Highway on Nov. 30.
The store will be located in Wareham Marketplace, a still under construction, 46,000-square-foot mixed-use commercial center at the intersection of Cranberry Highway and Tobey Road. Four buildings are proposed for the site. Plans also call for the creation of a parking lot with 318 spaces. Access will be provided by three driveways on Tobey Road and Cranberry Highway.
In addition to ALDI, the development will house car parts and accessories seller AutoZone. Representatives from the J. Donegan Company, Wareham Marketplace’s Virginia-based developer, have not yet announced any other tenants.
ALDI officials said the company announced a $3.4 billion investment plan this year to expand its presence in the United States. Plans call for opening 2,500 stores by 2022.
Bruce Persohn, ALDI South Windsor division vice president, said the company is looking forward to opening the Wareham location.
“The new look of ALDI delivers on customers’ desire for a modern and convenient shopping experience with a focus on fresh items, including more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections,” said Persohn, adding that the store also includes an updated design.
“Remodeled stores will also feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting,” he said.
