Selectmen used the occasion of a sign request from the Buzzards Bay Coalition to remind townspeople that anyone wanting to plant even a small temporary sign on public property first needs permission from Selectmen.

Approval for "yard signs" promoting the Coalition's annual fall fund-raising bike ride was easily forthcoming -- for signs that will not go up until September.

Looking at the WCTV camera, Selectman Judith Whiteside reminded others who were sponsoring events -- "even a church fair" -- that anything posted on town property needs the board's advance permission.
