Anita Stevens, 57

Anita L. Stevens, 57, of Brockton, died Dec. 21 in Middleboro after sustaining injuries in an automobile accident. She was the wife of the late William J. Stevens.

Born in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Sherman E. and Lutica Belle (Hauld) Thatcher. She previously lived in Colorado and Tennessee before moving to Wareham in 1999.

Anita had a special love for animals  and was well known for her “walks” and coming home with stray/injured cats, dogs, birds etc. then nurturing them back to health. She was also known as “Mom” to all of Forrest's friends, caring for and feeding them at any time of day or night. She was a kind and gentle soul.

She is survived by her son, Forrest E. Stevens of Brockton; her siblings, Mary Brick and her husband Jeff of Cape Coral, Florida, Michael McNamara and his wife Debi of Pelham, New Hampshire, Darryl Thatcher and his wife Treana of Lewiston, Idaho, and Gary Thatcher of Austin, Texas. Her grandchildren, Carter and Scarlett Stevens also survive her.
