PLYMOUTH - Arthur M. Montrond passed away suddenly in Plymouth after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.

Arthur is survived by the love of his life Denise (Carnes) Montrond of Plymouth, whom he was married to for 27 years. He is also survived by their children, Brian Silva and his wife Erica of Fairhaven, and Jessica Medeiros and her husband Jeff of Fairhaven; and their five grandchildren, Anthony, Cheryl, Lexi, Will, and Zac.

Arthur was born and raised in Wareham, MA. He lived in the Manomet Village of Plymouth, where he and Denise raised their family. He graduated from Wareham High School and was a proud alumnus of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA), where he graduated with a degree in Engineering. As an electrical engineer by trade, he worked for Gulf Oil and shipped out all over the world. After his work at Gulf, he worked briefly at the MMA Power Plant in Buzzards Bay and the Fore River Shipyard in Weymouth. Arthur went on to build a long career with the Plymouth Public Schools, serving as Director of Facilities, where he retired after 34 years of service to the community. He was passionate about his work and helping to make the Plymouth Schools a great environment for the students and staff.

Family was Arthur’s absolute greatest joy, though. Whether it was making memories with his kids and grandkids or spending time with his siblings and large extended family, he was always there to lend a hand and offer his unconditional love and wise advice. All it took was one phone call to Arthur and a problem could be solved or a bad day soothed. He was known for showing up when you needed him the most.

In addition to his wife and children, Arthur is survived by his beloved siblings Anthony Montrond Jr. of Wareham, Martha Montrond of Plymouth, Frank Montrond of Hawaii, Michelle Montrond of Wareham, Anna Messner and her husband Kurt of Plymouth; his siblings-in-law Paula and Charles Meyer of Westboro, Steve and Denise Carnes of Kingston, and Thomas and Laurie Carnes of Holbrook; and many nieces and nephews who absolutely adored him. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary Montrond of Wareham, his in-laws George and Evelyn Carnes of Braintree, as well as his siblings Michael Montrond of Plymouth and Marie Rodriguez-Cabral of Wareham.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wed., July 17, 2024 from 4 – 7 p.m.  His funeral will be Thursday morning from the funeral home at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 94 High St., Wareham at 10 a.m.
