As the snow beings to melt, the smell of fresh cut grass and the crack of the bat overwhelm the senses, alerting everyone to the start of baseball season.

In the coming weeks, the Gateway Babe Ruth Regional will be holding tryouts for all players aged 13 through 15. Players are welcome from Acushnet, Carver, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, New Bedford, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Wareham.

Tryouts are on the following dates at the baseball field at the Decas School in Wareham: 13-year-olds on March 22 at 1 p.m.

14 and 15-year-olds on March 23 at 1 p.m.

14 and 15-year-old pitchers and catcher at 12 p.m. on March 22.

Make up date on March 29 at 10 a.m.
