From Bach to the Beatles: Music from Land's End

Dozens gathered Sunday, July 27 for Music from Land's End featuring internationally acclaimed artists soprano Linda Tsatsanis, violinist Ariadne Daskalakis, violist Sebastian Gottschick and cellist Nathan Whittaker.

Music From Land’s End is an annual summer concert series sponsored by the Wareham Cultural Council.

Daskalakis said that she loves to share music with the community of Wareham as she calls it her home.

"I was traveling a lot for summer concerts and I thought I would love to be doing it closer to home," she said. "It's become a real tradition. It's gratifying to come and to have this."

The energy and active listening of the audience is a highlight of performing in Wareham Daskalakis said.

"They're opening their hearts and sharing their time," she said. "Time is short and precious and they carve time out of their summers and their weekends."

The group performed many classical tunes mixed with more modern music such as Heinrich Schutz combined with Bob Dylan. All pieces except for the Schubert Trio were arranged by Gottschick.

For Daskalakis, she said the crowd size doesn't matter.

"I love my profession and I think it's something about classical music that is really important for the soul," she said. "Being able to share that with my community is a privilege."

For cellist Whittaker, he was a bigger fan of the, 'force of nature," that Daskalakis was.

"Ariadne is freakin' awesome," he said.

Music from the Land's End will return Sunday, August 10 at 5 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd to perform trios by Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
