Bay Pointe Pavilion ready for business

May 3, 2010

Bay Pointe Country Club unveiled its new pavilion this weekend, kicking off a season of free, Friday-night entertainment that they hope will bring a new audience to the club and showcase its potential as a premier function site in the area.

"Our vision is to be attractive for local as well as summer people to come down here with their families and enjoy the attractions of the area," said Function Coordinator Jackie Daley.  "We have space, parking... you can go golfing, go to the beach or pool."

The golf course and club is open to the public, although memberships are available and provide certain golfing privileges such as preferred tee-times and year-round play.

The renovations to the pavilion were made to help attract the event and function market to Bay Pointe.

The main function hall was expanded by combining two smaller rooms and a hallway, increasing total seating capacity from 140 up to 200 people inside.  Additional seating is also available outside.

The dance floor was moved to the center of the room, and the tiles were replaced with wood flooring.

A new office and coat check was added in the entrance hall, which is now lit by a new chandelier.

Other cosmetic improvements included a new paint job, beadboard wainscoting, new lighting and new carpeting. The bar was also remodeled.  Cable TV and free Wi-Fi internet are now available.

A new catering company has been hired that will provide refreshments for events, including themed appetizers for each of the Friday performances.

Additional plans for the facility include renovating the former locker rooms into a dressing-room suite where brides can prepare for their wedding.  The pool adjacent to the building is also being renovated.

The renovation started in February, and cost over $200,000 according to Daley.

"It was a function facility, but wasn't" said Daley.  The facility hosted only a few events last season.  Already, they have two weddings already booked for this year and have scheduled baby showers, a retirement party, fundraisers, golf tournaments, a bridal show, and other events in addition to the live entertainment every Friday night.

"We can have any celebration of your dreams," said Daley.

An official Monday Madness Networking Event to celebrate the grand opening of the pavilion will occur on Monday, May 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  The event will include live music, free appetizers, door prizes and a cash bar.
