The Town of Wareham will soon have an additional beach wheelchair available for use, thanks to a donation.

Beach wheelchairs have wide, balloon tires that are designed to be able to roll over sand more easily and get a little wet.

The donation means the Harbormaster’s office on the Onset Pier will have three beach wheelchairs that improve accessibility at the beach, free for anyone to borrow.

Jane Fields, a Newton resident, donated the chair to the town. The Select Board unanimously voted to accept Fields’ donation during an Aug. 10 meeting.
