Betsey B. (Wright) Phillips, 71

Betsey B. (Wright) Phillips, 71, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital in New Bedford after a long illness.

Born in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Ernest K. & Esther J. (Hayward) Wright. Mrs. Phillips worked as a licensed practical nurse at several area nursing homes. She was a former board member of the Holly Heights Mobile Home Assoc. and was a member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Wareham.

Mrs. Phillips enjoyed camping, travelling, cruising, needlepoint, and bird-watching. Along with being an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, she was an original “hockey mom.”

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Survivors include her former husband, Ronald W. Phillips, Sr.; her children, Ronald W. “Billy” Phillips, Jr., Carl B. Phillips, Margaret Phillips, Ernest Phillips and his wife Steffani and Martha Phillips Luppino and her husband Jamie; her daughter in-law, Patricia V. (McDuffy) Phillips; her brothers and sisters, Franklin Wright and his wife Nancy, Lawrence Wright and his wife Edith; her sister in-law, Thelma Wright; her grandchildren, Maxx B. Phillips, James, Laurina, and Ann Marie Luppino, Kyle and Jodi Smith Phillips and Adriana and Genevieve Phillips; two great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Phillips was recently predeceased by her son, the late Jeffrey A. Phillips, her grandson, the late Todd W. Phillips; her brother, the late Arthur Wright; her sisters, the late Margaret Wright and the late Jane L. Aspeden, and her husband Irving.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on August 28 at the Church of the Nazarene, located at 6 Rogers Ave. in East Wareham.
