Board of Health fines Wareham tattoo artist for operating without license
The Board of Health on Wednesday fined a Wareham tattoo artist $275 for operating without a license.
The artist, Adam Marczak, owns and operates Inskane Art Tattoo at 3202 Cranberry Highway. He started apprenticing as a tattoo artist in Wareham over 10 years ago and has been at the store’s Cranberry Highway location since 2014.
At the board’s meeting, he explained that the license, which must be renewed each year, lapsed due to financial troubles.
“It was a financial issue,” said Marczak. “There was no deception.”
Because Marczak was working without a license for the past few months, board members had the option of collecting a $425 fine in addition to a $275 relicensing fee for the business and a $150 for his tattoo artist license. However, board members allowed Marczak to pay just a $275 fine over the course of the next three months.
Marczak said he would pay the license renewal fees early next week. After that, he will be allowed to reopen the business.
