Bourne Scallop Festival upcoming
The 42nd annual Bourne Scallop Festival will kick off along the Cape Cod Canal on Friday, September 23.
The three-day event will run from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 25.
More than 55,000 patrons are expected to partake in the family-friendly event. Event-goes will enjoy spectacular views, live music, and plenty of food.
In addition to the more than 6,000 pounds of scallops that will be consumed, other menu choices include herb-roasted chicken, lobster rolls, chowder, salads, a raw bar, hamburgers, hot dogs, specialty coffees, and desserts. Beer and wine will also be available.
The event will feature live music from local headliners Ernie and the Automatics on Friday at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the event will feature American Idol participant Siobhan Magnus of Marston Mills at 8 p.m.
General admission is $5. Children 12 and may attend at no charge. Free parking is available.
On Friday only, families can purchase a $22 wristband per child that will allow the child to ride all the rides from 3 p.m. to close at 10 p.m.
The event is sponsored by The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit corporation that raises funds to help the community in various ways.
Proceeds will help fund the Chamber’s scholarship program for four area high schools, three local food pantries, the Friends of the Bourne Council on Aging, and will contribute to the operation of two visitor centers that service the traveling public.
