Bull’s night out – with video!

Apr 20, 2020

Officers from the Wareham Department of Natural Resources, Wareham Police, and police officers from Marion and Rochester worked overnight to round up a pair of fugitives that were running wild through the backyards and woods near County Road.

The fugitives — two black bulls from Rochester — were difficult for the officers to track through the woods in the deep night, especially when they stopped to graze. Officers responded to the scene first at about 3:30 a.m. on Monday, and again at about 8:30 after the bulls had re-appeared from the forest.

“They definitely look scary at night,” said Garry Buckminster, the director of Natural Resources. Buckminster described shining a flashlight into the dark woods and seeing it glint off two pairs of eyes and horns.

Eventually, the officers managed to round the bulls up in a wooded area and bring them back to their Rochester home. Buckminster said the bulls were “fairly friendly,” despite their penchant for moo-ving violations.
