Car fire off of Oak Street

Mar 24, 2014

Wareham Fire Department, police and EMS responded to a car fire in the Tempest Knob Terrace Beach Marina parking lot Monday afternoon.

Witnesses said the three unknown gentlemen pulled the driver to safety out of her burning car before she was taken to Tobey Hospital by ambulance. Police were unable to confirm any information on the accident, which occurred just before 2 p.m. Monday.

The car came to a rest completely over the curb of the parking lot facing the water and adjacent to a tree line and nearby houses.

Wareham Fire Chief Robert McDuffy said they were lucky because if the wind was blowing in the opposite direction, the house a few dozen feet away would have been exposed to the flames.
