CEDA hosts public hearing to determine whether to keep code enforcement position

Oct 3, 2012

Wareham’s Community and Economic Development Authority will hold a public hearing Thursday, October 18, at 5 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium to discuss whether to continue the town’s Code Enforcement program.

The Code Enforcement Program is funded by a 2010 “community development block grant,” which funds a number of CEDA’s programs.

Residents at the hearing will  discuss whether or not to continue funding the program with the 2012 grant, which is due in December.

John Viveiros has served as the Code Enforcement Officer since 2010, and since then has completed more than 400 inspections. His job also entails tracking down the owners of abandoned building and issuing “orders to correct.”

Residents can voice their opinions in person at the hearing, or submit opinions in writing to: Community and Economic Development Authority, Salvador Pina, 54 Marion Road, Wareham MA, 02571.
