Charges dropped against Fearing Street shooting suspect

Charges were dismissed against a suspect arrested in connection with a January 23 shooting on Fearing Street.

Brian Townley, 24, of 14 Tomahawk Drive, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and possession of chemical mace without a Firearms Identification Card. Townley will be on probation until May 24, 2012.

There were no injuries as a result of the shooting. However, a Wareham police officer received a seriously injured his lower leg and ankle when he slipped during the investigation, police said. He was transported to Tobey Hospital by EMS where he was treated and released.

David Monteiro Jr., 33, of 153 Indian Neck Road, was also arrested in connection to the incident. He was found guilty on all three charges in February.
