Charles Kenneth Rider, Jr. (Ken), 83, of Marshfield, died October 18, peacefully and with family and friends by his side. He spent his last days in his cottage on the shores of his beloved Buttermilk Bay. He was the husband of the late Janet (Beaton) Rider and the son of the late Charles Kenneth Rider, Sr. and Gertrude (Andersen) Rider.

Ken loved most spending time with family and friends. The family cottage on Buttermilk Bay was the most special place in the world to him, where he would fish, sail, swim and enjoy the beauty of the bay. He was passionate about boats and boating and spent countless hours on his own boats and studying classic wooden crafts. He found inspiration in nature through hiking, skiing, and gardening, as well as extensive travel to all parts of the world. He was an avid Bruins and Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his loving companion Jeanne Churchill of Marshfield as well as his children, Jonathan Rider and Deb Davis of Essex, Joanna Rider-Monello of Manchester, NH, Sarah Holden and Russ Holden of Newburyport, and Deborah Rider of Londonderry, NH.
