Chicken and waffles for the Onset Beach Jazz Festival
The Onset Beach Jazz Festival will host a Chicken and Waffles Brunch fundraiser on Sunday, May 27, from 11 to 3 p.m. at the Lodge of Elks on Cranberry Highway.
Tickets are $12 per person in advance, and $15 at the door. Take-out is available.
The Onset Beach Jazz Festival is a free concert scheduled for July 21. This year’s headliner is saxaphonist Walter Beasley.
Considered by fans and critics alike as “the heir to Grover Washington Jr.'s throne,” the Boston-based musician has long mastered an exhilarating high wire act of balancing a successful career as a contemporary jazz recording artist and performer with an equally thriving presence in the field of music education.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Walter coming here to our beautiful little town,” said Onset native and Festival founder Mikelyn Roderick.
The Chicken and Waffles Brunch will feature music, dancing, raffles, and of course the traditional soul food combination of crisp fried chicken atop syrup-drenched waffles.
