Christmas on Main Street scavenger hunt soggy
Soggy weather prompted the Wareham Village Association to postpone the Christmas on Main Street parade to Sunday, Dec. 9, and kept many families indoors on Saturday, though the association still hosted a holiday scavenger hunt through local businesses.
The scavenger hunt was designed to promote dining and shopping locally, and took participants from the Narrows Crossing Restaurant to Makepeace Farms to find hidden the TownWear "Wareham" T-shirts. The Wareham Village Association sells the shirts, which feature Wareham's latitude and longitude coordinates, and illustrations of iconic town scenes.
Even Little People's College, located not far from Main Street on Swan Lane, joined the fun. Scavenger-hunters could stop by for a photo with a Disney character. At Eastern Bank, pianist Flo Byron entertained visitors.
Wareham Village Association President Anthi Frangiadis, though disappointed in Mother Nature, excitedly reminded all who stopped by the Village Association office on Main Street to come back on Sunday for the big parade.
The theme of the parade, which will feature floats by local businesses and organizations, is "Main Street Magic. It steps off Sunday at 3 p.m. on Merchants Way. The parade will take Main Street to Elm Street, with the parade finishing at the historic Tremont Nail Factory complex.
