Claudia LeBlanc, 90

Claudia B. (Brousseau) LeBlanc, 90, of Buzzards Bay, formerly of Gardner, passed peacefully on May 12 in Tremont Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Wareham surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Gardner on Oct. 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Alma (Demers) Brousseau.

Claudia graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1943.

She was owner and operator of Claudia’s Western Shoppe of Gardner for 27 years, retiring in 1992. In 2002, she moved to Buzzards Bay to live with her daughter, Renelle.

Claudia was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. For many years, she was a Girl Scout leader for the troop at Holy Rosary. She was also a member of Two Hearts as One Square Dancing Club for 35 years. She was a founding member of the Backward Squares Square Dance Club in Ashburnham, which sponsored a teen square dancing club, the Dew Drop Twirlers.

In addition to square dancing, Claudia enjoyed summers at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. She camped there for 45 years and enjoyed many days on the beach at Ocean Park with family and friends. Claudia was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Wilfred E. LeBlanc, who died April 27, 1999.

Claudia leaves one daughter, Renelle M. LeBlanc of Buzzards Bay; one brother, Robert L. Brousseau of Buzzards Bay; two nieces and several cousins.

Funeral services were held May 18 from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., in Gardner. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
