Community clean up this Saturday at Lopes Playground
Summer is almost here and it's time for clean up at Lopes Playground in Onset on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants should bring work gloves, hammers, rakes, pruning shears, trowels and wheel barrows. Paint has been provided by ACE Hardware and Aubuchon Hardware. Morse Lumber is donating supplies, Conway on the Bay is donating trash bags and Sand and Surf has donated the new ship’s wheel on the playground. High School students from both the CODE club and the JROTC club will be helping out.
Coffee, donuts, pizza, soda and water will be supplied. Stash's has donated pizza as has Minerva’s and Marc Anthony’s. Onset Village Market has given water and soda and Perry’s Ice Cream truck will come and donate a portion of their sales.
Participants are welcome to come for an hour or stay for the whole morning, but kids should be left at home. The park will not be kid-friendly on the 10th.
There will be a rededication of the park by the Onset Cape Verdean Festival group, who have provided a new sign and will also have hamburgers, hot dogs, soda and chips for those attending the ceremony.
Paint brushes, annuals and perennials are still needed. Checks can be made out to “Playground Community” and mailed to Roger Long at 10 Cory Dr Wareham, MA 02571. Thanks to Narrows Crossing Restaurant, Pier View Restaurant and John McBride for their financial contributions. If you have any questions you can contact Roger Long @ roger5628@verizon.net or Judy Whiteside @ jwhiteside@wareham.ma.us
