Aug 18, 2015

A conference on automation and the changing workforce landscape will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Marriott TownePlace Suites, 50 Rosebrook Place.

"Humans Need Not Apply: The Impact of Automation on our Future," is an event jointly hosted by the Wareham Community and Economic Development Authority, the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce and the Massachusetts Economic Development Council.

Relevant to all economic development and workforce professionals, this conference explores how trends in automation are changing productivity, the need for human capital, and our culture. A panel will address how advances in automation affect job opportunities, the growing skills shortage of our labor force, and other challenges.

The keynote speaker for the event is Ronald G. Marlow, undersecretary for workforce development. Marlow will weigh in on these issues and discuss how the new Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act will impact the Massachusetts workforce.

The conference costs $30 for MEDC members and $35 for non-members. To register, visit: http://goo.gl/GV02DX.
