Cranberry Coast Concerts to play farewell show

Sep 12, 2014

After a summer full of musical performances, the Cranberry Coast Concert series will have one more encore performance. The Cranberry Coast Concert’s Farewell to Season 9 will take place on Friday, Sept. 26.

The program will feature encore performances of Marilyn Morales’ world premier musical in concert “Always Remember,” and other audience hits from Cranberry Coast Concerts’ recent summer of programs.

Venues were filled to capacity over Labor Day Weekend when Morales and company performed her break-out musical about the Cuban experience. The Cuban-born composer’s new work has already received attention from television, radio, print and online media venues throughout New England, Florida, California, Cuba and France.

Morales will be joined at the piano by husband and festival co-director Kirk Whipple in a performance of their rendition of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” from their award-winning recording, “Celebrating Americans.”

Joining the Whipple/Morales duo will be members of the Cranberry Coast Concerts Chorale, including Bobby Brennan, Rei Gomes, Sarah Mawn, Cathy Portlock, Steve Tinkham and Linda Westgate. Dr. Nancy Cornish, who was inaugurated this summer as director of the Cranberry Coast Concerts Chorale, will conduct.

This special concert of piano and voice will be presented at Eastern Bank, Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. There will be no set admission price for this performance. Donations will be accepted in support of the festival.
