Dates to know for state election primaries

The primaries for Massachusetts state elections are just a few months away, and Interim Town Clerk Lisa Johnson wants to remind voters of important dates for participating in this process. 

The last day to register to vote and to change party enrollment for the state primary is Saturday, August 24. That day is also the first day of in-person early voting for the state primary; early voting will take place that day at Town Hall, 54 Marion Road, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday, August 26 is the last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the state primary. The cut-off is 5 p.m. To apply, visit the Town Clerk’s office in the Town Hall. 

The last day to post a warrant for the state primary is Tuesday, August 27. 

Early voting will take place the week of Monday, August 26 from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On Thursday, August 29, the town will test the computer-tabulating program for the state primary at 9 a.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. 

The town will open and count the mail-in and early voting ballots it has received starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 30, continuing to Saturday, August 31 if needed. 

Voting on the day of the election, Tuesday, September 3, will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
