David G. McCusker, 58
WAREHAM – David G. McCusker, 58, of New Bedford, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Diane L. (Sennett) McCusker and the son of Marie D. (Manson) McCusker and the late William J. McCusker.
David was born in Boston. He graduated from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Bourne and he served in the U.S. Army. Throughout his life, he lived and traveled throughout the country, ultimately returning to the Wareham area, and then residing in New Bedford.
David was adventurous and liked to explore new places and try new things. An authentic person, he made friends quickly, whether with a new neighbor, a friend of a friend, or just answering a wrong number. David would often dress in bright neon colors and was comfortable starting a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed entertaining people with a story and a joke, and he annually committed to his seasonal role as a real-bearded Santa Claus.
Having helped care for his two late brothers, Billy and Matt, David frequently helped those around him. He was a father (and grandfather) figure to many of those he befriended and cared for. David especially loved all the kids in his life and liked to shower them with toys and too many treats. David will be deeply missed by all of those he leaves behind.
David’s survivors include his wife, Diane L. (Sennett) McCusker of New Bedford; his mother, Marie D. (Manson) McCusker of Wareham; his 2 sons, David G. McCusker, Jr. of Bridgewater and Rien McCusker of New Bedford; and his 3 grandchildren, Cullen, Ryder, and Riley McCusker.
His services are being held privately.
